It is intended to publish a short profile on the Cumnock WW2 veterans listed on the plaques. Another plaque was later added to the Cumnock War Memorial Gates for the 1939-45 War and Vietnam War, with the following WW2 names: Barnes G, Simpson J, Wykes F, and Wykes Hazel. Three Vietnam veterans are also listed.
There are 108 names of WW2 veterans on the two plaques. There are 8 unknown veterans as of March 2023 and of the remaining veterans, 71 served with the Australian Army, 25 served with the RAAF, and 3 served with both the Army and RAAF. Eight females are noted by their Christian names. There were 4 pilots who served with the RAAF.
Soldiers who were killed in action have a + sign after their name. They are:
Atkinson TG, Badgery B, Barter RT, Graham JN, Ivery P, Reade TR, and Reynolds WB.
Those profiles that are available are listed in red font for full profiles or blue font for DVA details only. We will try to do full profiles for all the veterans, but there are many WW2 war records not yet available on the National Archives website. Those in black font we have so far not identified.
