It is intended to publish a short profile on the Cumnock WW2 veterans listed on the plaques. Another plaque was later added to the Cumnock War Memorial Gates for the 1939-45 War and Vietnam War, with the following WW2 names: Barnes G, Simpson J, Wykes F, and Wykes Hazel. Three Vietnam veterans are also listed.

There are 108 names of WW2 veterans on the two plaques. There are 3 unknown veterans (denoted in black font). If anyone knows who these three men were, could you please contact us.  Of the remaining veterans, 71 served with the Australian Army, 25 served with the RAAF, and 3 served with both the Army and RAAF. Eight females are noted by their Christian names. There were 4 pilots who served with the RAAF. Four soldiers were prisoners of war, only two who survived to return to Australia. 

​Eight veterans who were killed in action have a + sign after their name. They are:
​ATKINSON Thomas, BADGERY Brabazon, BARTER Reginald, GRAHAM James, 
IVERY Douglas (Pat), READE Thomas, REYNOLDS William, and HILL George.
